In the wake of comets and asteroids

Our universe is in a state of constant change. Planets and entire universes are moving, shifting, traveling to new places every second. Speeds at which these changes are taking place is mind boggling. When I think of earth in the year 1973, for example, it is not even in the same time or space continuum any more. In fact, we have traveled many miles in time and space since then. This type of thinking is a little hard to grasp since it is so abstract and non material.

Earth is entering a field that is directly affected by the Oort Cloud, a remnant or grave yard of the big bang of the universe's birth. In the Oort Cloud, millions of planetary fragments exist that are called comets and asteroids. Their shape, size and orbital path determines which is which. Also, the object's composition defines whether it is a comet or an asteroid. Right now though, it is important to note that earth is traveling into a more direct path of these objects. Earth is in more peril of close encounters and direct hits than it has been in many ages. I want to discuss some of these "close encounters" and earth's destiny orbit on this blog. Check back soon for the next update.

More to come on Comet ISON.
